Alysson Blackwelder

Washington, DC

Alysson joined USGBC’s Advocacy team in 2015. There, she focuses on how USGBC's green building and infrastructure policies - including LEED, PEER, etc. - actively support resilience-enhancing strategies that positively impact the sustainability and livability of projects and communities, and identifying the challenges that remain. In addition to developing resources for external advocacy and for internal staff reference, Alysson works with organizational partners in planning and hosting the annual Resilient Cities Summit. This convening of mayors, local officials, and industry experts allows participants to share best practices and discuss challenges to achieving enhanced resilience on the city and local level. By helping to advocate for a greener and more efficient built environment, Alysson is proud to help support a more resilient future.

Prior to coming to USGBC, Alysson was a federal lobbyist representing a diverse portfolio of clients at a national law firm in Washington, DC. She also served as senior legislative staff for three different Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. An Atlanta native, she graduated from Emory University with a Bachelors of Arts degree in English and Political Science.
